Jerry Breaux - PGA Director of Golf

My dad started me in golf at 5 years old. He was an airline pilot and had lots of time to play golf all over the world. I started in Florida in the early 1950's and here I am still in golf in 2009!

The reward for teaching golf is "long term." The students that I taught 10 years ago who are now going away to play in college, or the player I worked with as they retired 20 years ago who have improved tremendously, are equal thrills...as an instructor.

Golf is not a game you master overnight. Players who want to improve must work at it--properly. That means, work with good instruction, practice all parts of your game, and make yourself "step it up!"

Ben Bryson - PGA Head Professional

I started playing golf at the age of 5. I grew up on a small 9 hole municipal golf course in a tiny mining town. I developed my love for the game when I won my very first 1st place trophy at the ripe age of 7. Golf became my life. I was the Nevada High School State champion, played PAC-10 collegiate golf, have a low competitive round of 60, and have made this wonderful game my profession.

I won the 2012 Rocky Mountain PGA Section Championship by shooting a final round 63 at Huntsman Springs in Driggs, ID. I have qualified and played in 3 PGA Professional National Championships.

The best part about being a golf instructor is the satisfaction I get after a student hits "the perfect shot!" I enjoy sharing that moment with them. I enjoy teaching golf to all levels of players. I like to share my knowledge of the game and experience success through my students' progress.

I'm proud to be named the 2012 and 2014 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Player of the Year!

Katie Somers - Assistant Professional

Katie started out playing golf in Washington in the LPGA girl's golf club at the age of 8 and soon after started signing up for Washington Jr. Golf Association and Northwest Jr. Golf Tour events. She qualified for national The Big I Junior Tournament in Boise as a junior and also qualified for Callaway Jr. Worlds down in San Diego. She traveled to Boise three summers in a row to play in the annual John Dropping Memorial Junior Championship at Hillcrest Country Club and fell in love with the area.

In October of 2007, she signed her national letter of intent with Boise State University, where she played all 4 years on the women's golf team. She graduated in the spring of 2012 with a degree in Communication.

After graduation, Katie worked as the USGA P.J. Boatwright intern at the Idaho Golf Association and spent the summer working with the IGA's Jr. Tour and helping Jr. Golfers compete and play to their best abilities. She is happy to be the new Assistant Golf Professional at BanBury Golf Course and plans to enter the PGA of America Professional Golf Management program later this year.
